Summary

Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), in partnership with the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is spearheading Community Mobilization and Stakeholders engagement component of the Naulong Integrated Water Resource Development Project (NIWRDP) in District Jhal Magsi, from June 2023 to June 2024. This initiative, aligned with Pakistan’s Vision 2025 and ADB’s country partnership strategy (2021-2025), prioritizes water, energy, and food security in Balochistan. Targeting nearly 8,248 households and benefiting 58,000 individuals, the project focuses on community engagement in design upgrades, impact assessment, social mobilization, and institutional anchorage, intending to enhance water and agriculture productivity and livelihoods. By exploring the socio-economic landscape, gender aspect and local dynamics.

The key deliverables of the project are stakeholders’ consultations, social impact assessment, Social and gender development assessment, water and land shareholding assessment in the command area, and submission of recommendations for agriculture development irrigation management plan. The project aims to bolster community understanding and support, ensuring collaborative efforts to mitigate adverse impacts and promote sustainable development in Jhal Magsi.
